Program Overview
The aim of the program is to train young scholars from various countries, in the field of Holocaust Studies and provide them with a broad, multidisciplinary education that will enable them to carry out independent research in the field. To further its aim of promoting academic excellence, the program offers scholarships on the basis of academic merit. The program's uniqueness lies in its exposure of the students to various fields of study in the humanities and social sciences (such as history, social psychology, anthropology, genocide and international law), In addition the students will acquire a variety of research skills in the humanities and social sciences, engage in guided work in archives, study the relevant languages and participate in study trips to Germany and Poland. An additional unique feature of the program is the collaboration with museums and archives of the Holocaust period – such as the Ghetto Fighters' House museum and Yad Vashem in Israel. In the context of these museums and archives, students will be able to conduct research based on primary sources and acquire expertise in writing academic research papers. Internship opportunities in museums and archives are provided by the program. In the course of their study visit to Germany and Poland, the students will visit historical sites connected with Jewish life before the Second World War, as well as ghettos, death camps and museums. The visit will include joint seminars with local students and leading German and Polish scholars.
